“Ages come and pass”

I am at the beginning of the fourth book in Robert Jordan’s epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time. At the beginning of each book, so far, these have been the first two sentences. And they are my favorite.

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.”

Robert Jordan, Wheel of Time

I have been reading this series constantly since my knee pain got worse a couple months ago. This is one of my favorite series ever. Robert Jordan continues to amaze me with the world building, characters that feel like best friends, and foreshadowing that has sucked me into this world.

I haven’t been doing much writing of my own book, going to hear live music or MN United football matches because I am in constant agonizing pain. My right knee feels like a seven on the best days and a nine on the worst moments. The worst pain feel like a blizzard… and for now, I’m waiting out the storm and hoping to figure out what’s causing the pain after a sedated MRI on Wednesday.

For now, I’m hooked on the wheel.
