My parents and I are driving to Denver in a couple weeks and I am excited to check out a new place. Thanks to Bookshare.org and my tablet, I’ll be able to read while traveling. See #5 to learn more about how I read with Bookshare when traveling: Part 3: Fun things I did in DC & Philadelphia
On Tuesday September 10, I will be reading the second book in an adult fantasy trilogy by Chloe Gong. The title is Vilest Things (brilliant title) and the series title is False and Flesh Gods (EXCELLENT!). I think Chloe is strongest in her descriptions and how she hurls you into the minds of the characters. Check out more Fantasy escapes.
I just realized I have been reading books by this author since COVID 1st year. Love when her new books are released and vacations to Denver are not going to get in my way of a great read!
What I am going to do in Denver when I am not reading
See the sites, see the Interrupters at Red Rocks front and center, stuff like that. Did you know that Red Rocks has wheelchair accessible seating in Row 1! And this will be my 2nd big road trip to see the Interrupters? Concert Road Trip!
Buttered Cat
Oh, wait a second. Feeling like I forgot another book by another great author… Remember the review I gave for Lexi Haas’s The Year of the Buttered Cat? Lexi, like me, also has kernicterus and underwent Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgeries. Year of the Buttered Cat is the mostly true story of that experience. Well, guess what?

Lexi and Susan’s book has been republished by a major publishing house, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. They were featured on PBS Books Author Talk and Lexi was the first augmentative communication device user ever to speak at the Library of Congress National Book Festival! So very cool! Congratulations Lexi and Susan!
Looking for a great back-to-school read for some young people or anyone who loves to read in your life? I highly recommend Year of the Buttered Cat! Here’s my review when they first released the book: Book Review: the year of the buttered cat

Good news. Thanks for reminding me to get the book by your friend about your DBS experience.
