My parents and I had a road trip to see the Interrupters at Red Rocks in early September. You may remember that I’m a huge Interrupters fan! They were opening for Sum 41. Here are some of the highlights from my latest road trip.
“No matter how far I run”
Red Rocks accessibility and the Interrupters
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! It can be a little nerve wracking going to an entirely new venue someplace youāve never been before cause you have no idea what to expect. We knew that we had to park in one spot and take a shuttle to the area where we could get in to our seats in Row 1. We couldnāt believe how smooth the whole process was. The shuttle was right there when we arrived. It dropped us right at our entrance and we were ushered over to our seats. We even had someone take our food and drink order and deliver it to us in our seats. We did leave early and the shuttle bus was parked right there so no problem getting back to our van.
The most amazing part, though, is I was in row 1 and the Interrupters were SO CLOSE! It was so amazing! Did I mention, amazing????
Pictures below show me in the shuttle bus, views from our seats, and of the Interrupters. Canāt wait to see where we get to see them next!

“I always end up back here”
I love history so usually try to go to history museums to learn more about the places I visit. The History Colorado Center is a huge and beautiful museum and I could have spent several days here. The Sand Creek Massacre exhibit immersed me in learning about what happened to Arapahoe and Cheyenne people in Colorado. This exhibit was incredibly powerful, horrifying what happened, and it if you are ever in Denver, take time to go see this exhibit and museum. Learn about the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre: Sand Creek Massacre Betrayal Changed Cheyenne and Arapaho People Forever (History Colorado Center)
This was a newer building and accessibility was great. There was a discounted rate for people who have EBT cards, which I do, so that was nice. There is a parking lot with accessible parking about a block from the museum that we parked in for the Denver Art Museum, also. Hereās more about History Colorado Center Accessibility.
Seeing my grandparents
We started off our trip with a night at my grandparents in Pipestone. Goes without saying that I love, love, love seeing grandma and grandpa Schulze! Wish I could see them more often!
“No wrinkles in it” – Well…
Wouldnāt be a trip without some wrinkles along the way. The first started when my mom contacted the vacation rental we were going to stay in to see if we’d be able to check in a little early. The helpful person from the management company said heād get back to us after checking. About 10 minutes later while at a wayside rest on the border of Nebraska and Colorado, he called back to let us know there had been damage in the unit but could move us to one on a higher floor. For most people, this would work great ā penthouse unit would have been awesome⦠had it been accessible with a roll-in shower. But, it didnāt and we were going to be arriving in Denver in a couple hours with no place to stay. Yes, my mom was somewhat panicking!
The guy from the original place did find another vacation rental with someone else and we were able to quickly book that place for our stay. We lucked out this time even though we had several hours to kill once we arrived in Denver before the place was ready for us.
This is just one of the things to be aware of with vacation rentals, is there are very few wheelchair accessible ones, and if something happens to make the space unavailable, you may be scrambling to find another place that works.
The place we ended up staying worked out fine. It wasnāt in the area that we had wanted to be in and was literally right next to the freeway, so a bit loud. But, it had a really nice roll-in shower and thatās what I needed! Here are a couple more random pictures from our trip that includes the shower, Denver Art Museum, and day trip to Boulder.

All in all, it turned out to be a good trip. I got to explore a new place. Red Rocks was amazing. The Interrupters were awesome and I even got a hug from Amee Interrupter. Now, I just have to talk my parents into going to New York City for my next dream trip!
Your road trip song of the day that inspired my section heading titles!

Sounds like a great trip!
