Football is awesome

On Saturday, I watched three great fixtures (English for games) and all of them were decided within the last minute. And, I actually went to one of the fixtures in person. So, really an all around awesome day after a somewhat difficult week. I ended up missing two shows last week – one at First Avenue and one at 7th Street Entry – because of some pretty severe knee pain. Chronic pain sucks.

6:45 AM AFC Wimbledon v Milton Keynes ****

Remember my dream trip of a lifetime last year to England? The main reason was to see AFC Wimbledon – check out my banner picture from last year’s football game I went to! I was so excited for today’s fixture, I woke up at 4:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m., and then again at 6:00 a.m. to the delight of my caregivers (my parents this weekend). I don’t love these early starts from the perspective of my Central Standard Time zone. Anyway, I so wish I would have been at this game in person! OMG – In the very last minute of the game, Wimbledon scored against the MK*****! It’s a rather huge rivalry for those of you who don’t know or perhaps don’t care. I was out of my mind! The day couldn’t get any better, right?

9:00 AM Nottingham Forest v Liverpool

Wrong! My second favorite part of the day was watching Liverpool win 1-nil the final minute of their match! How could the day get any better than that? Wait for it…

1:00 PM MN United Home Opener

I am now a proud season ticket holder for our own Minnesota United Football Club. And, my seat is on the Wonderwall! It’s kind of weird, awesome, and cool being part of the action. I’ve been to other games here and sat on the other side of the pitch, but the level of excitement from the Wonderwall is my kind of excitement! MN United tied it up in the last seconds of the game.

It was an awesomely perfect day!
