MN State Capitol with crowd at rally

Hands Off!

Guess where I was yesterday? Hanging out with about 25,000 energetic Minnesotans at our state capitol in St. Paul!

My mom and I were able to park in our favorite ramp and wind our way through the Capitol. I stopped by to check out my picture in the hallway between the Senate Office Building and the Capitol – I was soooo young then! You know, that time I spoke about meaningful inclusion for people with disabilities at the Capitol Grand Re-opening with the late Senator Dave Durenberger.

Anyway, it felt great to be in this crowd of humanity on a cold, windy, sunny day in Minnesota. I was there because I have a disability and depend on Medicaid for my healthcare and services that help me live in my community. I was there because I depend on SSI to help pay my bills. I was there because I depend on housing assistance and SNAP benefits. I was there raising my voice for people with disabilities who depend on these services which are under threat. The fear is real!

So, I will keep raising my voice! I will keep fighting for what’s right! See you at the next rally! We all do better when we ALL do better!
